After decades of this Singapore mall serving the public, Harbourfront Centre officially closed last July 27, 2026. I have very fond memories of this mall dating back to 2016, when I first moved to Singapore with my family. Since we rented a condo just across Vivocity, this area was very accessible by foot.
While I was looking for a job, my morning routine would be to accompany my wife to the bus stop just beside Harbourfront Centre and then pass through the mall as I take a morning walk or jog to Sentosa Island. Going back, I’d stop over at Harbourfront to rest and have breakfast. My favorite place was Mos Burger. They had affordable breakfast meals. I would stay there for a while reading the free daily newspaper, "The New Paper" that you could pick up near the stairs close to the Harbourfront MRT entrance. Afterwards, I’d go to the second floor where the ferry departure area is. There’s a lovely scenic view of the sea, cable cars, and boats, and if you’re lucky, there’ll be a large cruise ship docked.
We also frequented Harbourfront Centre when we played Pokemon Go, because there were at least 5 Pokestops conveniently located within the mall. And at least once a year, we visited the book sales whenever they set up on the ground floor near the main entrance.

| I had breakfast here almost every day. |
When Vivocity was crowded, we’d do our groceries here at Cold Storage, hang out at Starbucks, or dine at the food court (which also had a Filipino stall); buy takeout food from Yoshinoya, Pizza Hut, or Soup Spoon; or have snacks or dessert at Dunkin or Baskin Robbins. When we wanted to go out close to midnight and felt hungry, McDonald's was open 24 hours.
We would also visit Singapore Post on the third floor at least once a year when we were going to mail our Christmas greeting cards to our friends and loved ones. They also had a gym on the third floor then, which I tried once, only because they offered a free trial. It was also a nice sight to see travelers leaving the arrival area at the ground floor and being met with stores filled with chocolates, toys, gadgets, and currency exchange outlets. Japan Home was our go-to for affordable household items whenever we needed them. Watsons was convenient to go to when we needed medicine and personal health and wellness items. And a few times, we also visited Raffles Medical when we needed to consult a doctor.

From 2016 - 2021, this mall has been part of my life. I would’ve loved to visit Harbourfront Centre again if we were to visit Singapore, but that won’t happen because they permanently closed the mall. It’s scheduled for demolition, and a new building will be built and will reopen in 2031.
Thank you, Harbourfront Centre for the core memories and the many services and experiences you provided to me and my family. Goodbye Habourfront Centre, and possibly, see you soon in your new form in the next decade.
