4 Days/3 Night Stay at the Crown Regency Hotel ?

I received an unexpected call this afternoon from a certain Ms. Michelle Chavez that I had been a lucky pick from over 1000 registrants who won a 4 day /3 night hotel accommodations for 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) at the Crown Regency Hotel with my choice of either their Cebu or Davao hotel.

At first I was surprised cause I don't recall joining any contest. When it was explained to me that I was one of 50 lucky draws from over 1,000 registrants during the PALMM expo at the World Trade Center late last year, it kinda made sense. However, I was still skeptical with the whole thing, knowing that it may all be a scam.

Here are some details given to me which makes me skeptical about the prize:

  1. She said there are no obligations, financially that is... However, winners need to watch a 1 1/2 video showcasing the hotel and its amenities, services and highlights.
  2. After saying that the hotel accommodations are free, there is a P3,000. booking fee though which should be placed 1-2 weeks before using the prize.
  3. Claiming of the prize is anywhere between 6-8pm at Room 1902 Centerpoint Bldg. I checked the hotel's official website, and this is not their Manila address.
  4. When I asked for the hotel's website from the person I was speaking with, she told me that she can't divulge any info about it and just told me to search for it on the net.
  5. I searched for her name "Michelle Chavez" on the net and it's a generic name, also a name of an actress.

Because of my skeptisim, I've asked my friendly friend Aileen to accompany me to the presentation. As much as it's an exciting prize to actually win, I'm still not 100% convinced it's totally legit. I really do hope it's legit.

Update:

Just got back from picking up the prize. And my suspicions were correct. Upon entering the building lobby, I immediately looked at the tenant directory and Room 1902 was unlisted. Strange. I then asked front desk what company occupies Room 1902. The guard said "Crown Regency". So at least I knew I was going to the right room.

Upon entering 1902, Aileen & I immediately saw what seems to be a conference and showcase area. While we were asked to be seated, our couch was directly across a cabinet of what looked like beauty products. The first thing that came into my mind was MLM (Multi Level Marketing). I've been through the experience of avoiding this years ago and here I am, a victim of a somewhat similar experience.

After filling out a form with some personal information extracted from me, we were accompanied to a small cubicle which resembled a videoke room. This was where we were to watch a 1 1/2 hour video. Fortunately, they only let us watch around 15 minutes worth of it. It seems that we may have not passed as being credible clients to what they were offering.

And so here it is... they were offering club membership to access their chain of hotels. The prize I got was actually not totally free. If I were to use it, I had to pay the 1st day (worth P5,000). and the next 2 days would be free. For someone who hasn't been travelling out of the metropolis nor the country for that matter, this has no appeal to me whatsoever.

And so I was finally given my prize check of the hotel accommodations but I will only be able to brag about it by showing the certificate to others but will never get to use it especially that it isn't transferable.

    wow! I received call from them for the same promo. May nagrefer daw sa akin. Ngcommit ako na punta kami ng husband ko to claim the GC and free buffet dinner bukas. Buti nalang naisipan ko igoogle si crown regency promo and nakita ko tong blog na toh! Hindi nlang ako pupunta kung ganun lang pala. How many years na pala ni ito ginagawa. Sipag nila magtawaga ah!

    wow good to land in this blog, this still exist till now. I just received a call from this kind of promotion, it requires me and my husband for claiming and watch a 90 mins film with refreshments. told them that only vacant day will be sunday which i thought would theyre office would be close. But theyre going to give me a special schedule for me to claim my GC in crown regency. Upon reading the comments now it gave me an idea. it will be a waste of time since sunday is the only day my husband will be here in manila. Thanks for all the info. the one which disappointments me was that they got my number from the 2nd Japan Educational Fair which was held recently September 2015.     Got invited to one of these. In Ortigas. There's a free dinner. Then a 90-minutes video about their company. Then, they will convince you to join as member. If you are a member, you can stay in their partner hotels (Philippines and abroad) for a very big discount. But the membership price is very expensive. But you can pay in installment. BUT YOU NEED TO DECIDE THERE AND THEN. YOU CANNOT DECIDE TOMORROW! BEC THE OFFER IS VALID ONLY TODAY! If they are legit, why not give time for your customers to decide? Why force them to decide right there, at that time? That thought made me realize that THIS IS SCAM!!! Another thing, if you say no, they find a way to explain their offer again. You will notice that you will always go back to square one. So we ended up wasting 3.5 hours!!! Thank God, they were not able to convince us. After 3.5 grueling hours, they gave up and allowed us to leave. Warning to those who cannot say NO firmly, you will have a hard time leaving! SO NEVER GO AT ALL!

    Just got my free GC awhile ago, ang akala ko talaga totoo ito pero nagtaka ako biglang may babayaran na booking fee, kung talagang nanalo talaga ako bakit need ko magbayad ng 3k para sa booking fee? At dapat sagot din nila ang plane ticket dahil winner ka nga diba? kaya naghinala na ako at kinunsulta si google. at di nga ako nagkamali ng hinala.

    Good thing I stumbled across this blog, I got a call from Lyka Lim of Crown Regency using 0916-6679269 stating the very same scenario and location, that I won a 3D2N GC from at any of their Hotel branch in Cebu or Davao, they said they got my name at the recently concluded Travel Sale Expo in World Trade Center. I also did gave a few travel agencies my contact information to recieve their promos. What made the call skeptical is because the travel agencies did not have any raffle contest and only the Main event organizer did. Ms Lyka asked if I have the ticket with me but only did a run through on my Name and City I reside, she didn't bother to verify the winning ticket no. I just hope that the other 14 of their said raffle winners will also stumble accross this blog so they will have a clear idea what will happen to them.

    We just attended Travel Expo at World Trade last Sunday. Same offer but different person, his name is, Albert Tan. He told me I won this raffle were out of 1000 only 15 were selected winner. At first, it was convincing but after the call I had doubts na. Nabiktima na din kasi ako before. Sayang lang sa oras, yung buffet nila parang ewan lang :( pero kumain pa din ako hahaha

    Wow and until now they're still doing those tactics. Got a call from Timothy of Club Regency saying same things as what they have promised to everyone.
    Is there any authorities who can call the attention of anyone from the legit crown regency so as to file a demand for these people of giving false info if they're really not connected.
    Hoping for this scam to end and for our time and effort of going not to be wasted.

    I just receive a call today from Charlie Torres, I'm one of the 15 lucky winner daw na ini sponsor nila last event in Binondo and that's true I'm really there a little bit of minutes. He told me about the GC, and explained everything about sa prize, and yon nga no money involve, I told her na baka pagpunta namin may babayaran pala and he insist no money obligations. Pero I wonder kasi the way he delivered his spill para siyang nangangapa lang at di marunong eh, after his call he texted with me the details of venue, dahil sa ako mahilig mag search before I go,I search the address and the crown regency is not the exact location na binigay niya,and yes I found out this blog, tama ngaang pag dududa ko. save my time and for me to scam.. thanks for your blog!

    Sa haba po ng blog na ito na puro negative comments about Club Ultima, common show us your satisfied clients na nage-enjoy ng membership nila sa Crown Regency. It seem na wala pa kayong ganung kliente. Please lang lumaban kayo ng parehas at wag mambiktima ng kapwa pilipino na iri-ripped off nyo ng kanilang pinag-hirapang pera.

    Fast forward March 2016, they're still at the same scheme. Got a call from Victoria Andrade (09228825645) and offered me the same package. She told me she would call for the claiming mechanics. Never got the call back and was not that interested cuz I thought it was a scam.

    Happened to us last night, we went there at scout albano but didn't got duped into it. They sell us this Lifetime Membership Shit worth 400k plus. Sabi namin wala kaming dalang cash, creditcard, or atm tapos sabi samin ng sales consultant named Susan, punta na lang daw siya sa bahay namin that same night para kunin yung check hahaha! Crazy and desperate moves mapaluwal lang ng pera mga tao. Dapat may mag sumbong na talaga sa imbestigador. They waste people's time and fool them.

    This has to stop. It is still keep on going and tried to scam as many as they can. I received a call just recently with the same good offer. Good thing, one of my friend had search the number they used to saw this blog. Thank you so much. Let's be aware of giving out some information.

    Oh they are still around alright. I got a call from 0999851696. Aside from the 3D/2N, they have an added come on now to visit: a weekend lunch buffet or a weekday dinner buffet. Do I know RCBC in Makati? Yes. That's "near where our Office is" :-) I suppose its the Metropole address I see posted above. I am just curious though - maybe the GC is real na this time unlike in the posts above? But I don't want to risk wasting a couple of hours.

    Just received a call from Chino daw and this is the number 09052818751 the same as mentioned by one of the person who comments here during the year 2015 I think they are still using the same number to scam people, upon browsing the net I saw the comment from 2015 with the same number who called me tsk tsk I am glad hindi ako nabiktima because I was suspicious nun una palang that something is fishy na with the call upon checking din their office does not exist tsk tsk ingat po tayo

    Its 2017 and theyre still at it. They've been contacting me since 2015. Blocked all the numbers that they use but they just use a different number to call you. Ive now becoming wary about answering calls from unknown numbers. Just letting everyone know that theyre still around. I only wish i had googled them before answering their first call to me. Now i cant get rid of them.

    We are supposed to attend their 90 mins presentation today November 26, 2017 at Quezon City between 1-3pm. Buti n lang naggoogle ako about crown regency and I read about your post. The call was really for my hubby but since he left his celfon I answered it at nagpakilala yung kausap ko as Paul Garcia. Nanalo nga daw si hubby ng 3D2N n gift check fron crown regency at pwede lang gamitin sa cebu or davao. Nakuha daw nya info ng hubby ko from IIEE expo which was held nov 16-19. Kung di siguro ako nagsearch sa google baka mabiktima kami ng maling marketing ploy ng crown regency club

    I just received the same calls and the same information dahil pumunta kami sa Auto Show sa world trade last April 6 2018. Meron nga akong nafill-up na maliit na form nong time na yon. Akala ko pa naman swerte na ako sa raffle dahil sa tanang buhay ko, never ako nabubunot sa raffle. tapos dito ganon nanalo ako agad. So ako paniwalang paniwala, and tuwang tuwa dahil worth 18K luxury hotel accommodation dw sa Mactan Cebu or Davao for 2 adults and 2 kids. Tama talaga hinala ko, iba kaba ng dibdib ko eh. Madalas na kasi ako navi-victim ng mga ganito dahil sa mga nkakaakit na marketing strategies nila. Di na ako tutuloy bukas, balak ko pa nman mgleave sa work..hahha

    Teka 2018 na! 11yrs na pla itong scheme na ito. I just received a call this afternoon offering the same story as yours dj. At first talagang nag sign up ako sa isang gasoline station. Akala ko promo ng gas station and since malapit lng sa office ung gas station nagtry na ako mag check. Sabi ng mga gasoline boy hindi daw un sa gas company nila. Parang pumuwesto lng sila dun para mag offer ng promo ng mga hotel through a raffle promo. And then here it goes. They said nanalo ako sa raffle and merun akong free 4d 3n accomodation package sa crown regency hotel. Dapat bukas 8pm pipickupin ko ung price kaso merun tlaga mali sa paki ramdam. So ichecked the net and "boom" may mali nga. Thanks sa blog and other sites na nag warning regarding sa scheme. Hope di nila ako kulitin gaya sa ibang naka experience.

    Same situation but this time I won 1 night stay at One tagaytay Place hotel raffled in World Trade Center. I was supposed to come tomorrow with my husband, they ask me to come in their head office in novaliches bayan and stay for 90mins presentation with a lunch buffet.     It's 2019 and they are still at it. I received a call this morning from a person named Jay Castillo saying the same thing that I won a 3d2n crown regency hotel voucher that I can only claim tomorrow because the excutives of Crown Regency came all the way from cebu to release the vouchers tomorrow. He said he got my number from an electronics expo at world trade, which I attended but I never joined any contest. I'll be more careful on giving away my business card next time.

    I also received calls and texts from Crowne Regency informing me that i won a GC from Crown Regency. The scheme is the same as described here except their office is in Ortigas Center. Good thing i saw several article online about this scam and dodged the bullet.

    Hi, Same thing happened to me i got this call last May 18, 2019 same statement that you guys are saying... today May 19, 2019 just before I wrote this comment I got a call confirming my attendance today May 19, 2019 with the specified time... I told them that I have not confirmed that I and my wife will be coming since we have a tight schedules. She (the caller I did not get her name clear) told me that she will discuss this with Raffy Mendoza the person who called me last Saturday since our name is already printed on the "voucher" and so our call was ended.. then I pause and got curious after the call to search in the internet since I am in front of the computer when she called and found out this blog and a lot more regarding this incident... Wew! thanks for sharing your stories too. It helps..

I can't believe it's been going for years! At first I was kinda interested to pick up our tickets tomorrow. But my husband already disagreed kasi parang wala rin daw napanalunan because gagastos ka rin!!! Sabi ko I will research muna before saying no. Pero ka-no-NO nga! Hahaha! He initially doesn't want to go but I was able ti convince him since I was so enticed about the free vacation for our family. We get there and everything stated in this blog is same. Prior to that, the person who called me repeatedly saying there's no commitment or money involved. But there we were, we've been enticed and actually signed up for membership. My husband paid 60,000 that's 15% down payment because we don't have enough money that time they said we need 120,000+ which is 30% of the entire membership fee. And it is non-refundable if we decide to back out.

    so after 15 yrs crown regency is still doing it. The new modus is that someone i know won 3N stay and transfered me the prize and leave my name and contact number. In 3 days they will call again for further instruction of claiming the prize. the caller is from makati branch. Emailed the hotel reporting the call and got no corresponding call from crown regency. maybe they cross me out on the target list.lol thanks for sharing this

Gladly, I search in google and FB if there is a scam from Crown Regency Hotel. And read an article earlier saying its a scam and read this article. This will save my time. thanks for this :)
